In both photography courses and from personal pictures taken on my iPhone, I have noticed that the focus in my work continually centers in on landscapes and city life. Things such as skylines, bridges, and colorful street art that you come across randomly always seem to be the center and focus of my works. Growing up in New York City there is just an element of beauty that grasps my attention. For me it is just something that you look at which it catches your eye and you just have to capture that moment. I feel that through me capturing that moment in a photograph, myself and others who view it will be provided the chance to experience that moment indefinitely. I like the idea of a picture being able to forever hold a specific moment in time that can never be repeated.
Although I have this intermediate knowledge of and experience with photography, I do not have a chosen medium in which I want to work in for the future. I do hope that through my courses at Hunter and other activities, such as possible internships, I will find that one specific medium that captures me in such a way that will allow me to express myself and any interests I develop over time through experience and learning. At this point in my life, I am really just trying to figure out who I am, what I want to become in my future, and learn what really interests me in the world. Throughout this journey of self discovery, my main goal is to just figure out what works for me and what will make me happy.
